THIS BACON PROVES WE CAN OVERCOME *ANYTHING*

Over-eating after trauma is no joke....

This morning my sweetheart and I went for a long hike. He went straight back to bed when we got back home (we were out SUPER early this morning to catch the stillness of the night forest as it woke up) but I wanted to eat something before I started my work day.

I could have KISSED this bacon as I unpackaged it and laid it into the pan....because there was a time I *NEVER* could have eaten just one slice - especially not after a long hike!!!!

I wasn’t connected to my body AT ALL.

I ate emotionally because I didn’t know how to listen to my body, or how much food it actually needed, AND, it’s what felt good.

School yourself on even just the basics of neuroscience and you’ll find that overeating after trauma isn’t about laziness or lack of control due to some moral gluttony issue at all.

It’s about the brain re-wiring itself to survive horrific conditions, and not having been healed, resolved and re-wired back to what it was yet!!!

People are are so quick to judge women with extra weight on their bodies, without seeing how ignorant they are being. #sorrynotsorry ‘cause I’ve seen enough of my sisters, dear friends, aunts, cousins, colleagues and cousins suffer in this harsh judgment.

And if you’re a woman who’s been through trauma, this message is for you MOST OF ALL:

❤️LOVE❤️ yourself even as you’re putting too many slices of bacon on, because loving yourself where you are right now, in full acceptance, is the only way to MOVE THROUGH.

With this new awareness, you’ll open up and start to see things differently, beginning with having compassion for your human body, which does what it does, and knows no other way right now - your only job is to watch life with new eyes, KNOWING that you CAN overcome.

This bacon on my pan says so 🥓

I LOVE YOU (bacon *and* you My Dear Reader haha)
